The Panhandle Youth Shelter is a licensed residential child-caring facility that provides temporary placement for youth who need a safe and supportive environment.

We serve youth who are on probation, youth who cannot remain safely in their homes due to abuse or neglect, and runaway or homeless youth. Our shelter provides a structured, caring environment where youth receive supervision, support, and guidance.

In addition to meeting basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter, the Panhandle Youth Shelter focuses on teaching life skills that help youth succeed even after leaving our facility.

All services are delivered using Trauma-Informed Care practices and guided by the Positive Youth Development philosophy, ensuring youth receive respectful, strengths-based support.

Teen Outreach Program

The Teen Outreach Program (TOP) promotes the positive development of adolescents through curriculum-guided, interactive group discussions; positive adult guidance and support; and community service learning. The TOP curriculum is focused on key topics related to adolescent health and development, including both social, emotional, and life skills; developing a positive sense of self; and connecting with others. The curriculum targets middle and high school age youth.

Making A Difference

The Making a Difference curriculum offers a series of engaging and interactive activities designed to boost participation and help young adolescents recognize and avoid the faulty reasoning and poor decision-making that can put them at risk for HIV, STDs, and pregnancy.
