What are the qualifications for the program?

The majority of the participants must be very low income.  Household income may be lowered by adjustments due to age, health and disability.

What types of repairs are performed?

Repairs must be primarily for health and safety reasons.  Examples include electrical, plumbing, heating, structural and special needs modifications.  Up to 20% of the project may be other than health and safety.  Examples include painting, cabinetry, carpeting and air conditioning.

Are mobile homes considered too?

Mobile homes will be considered too--as long as they are on a permanent foundation and on owner-occupied land.

What if I am a renter?

Only home owners are eligible for this particular program.

Individual projects may be comprised of loans, loan/grant combinations or grants.

Are there types of financial assistance?

Low interest loans are available.  Funding is provided by the United States Department of Agriculture--Rural Development, with financial support available statewide from the Nebraska Energy Office.

Is there a waiting list?

Due to very limited funds, participation is also quite limited.  A waiting list has been established and individuals/families will be served accordingly.
